The video performance is an edited record of a ninety-minute performance in which the artist constructs an installation that tensions symbols associated with femininity and motherhood. In a small space, she unrolls sixty meters of barbed wire, creating an intricate “cat’s cradle,” the barbs of which are carefully covered with cotton, evoking a surgical gesture. The fuchsia lighting and the soundtrack composed of sounds captured by NASA in outer space create an ambiguous atmosphere, where softness and aggressiveness coexist. The work, developed during the exhibition Territórios Internos, at Casa Porto das Artes Plásticas, reflects on the ephemerality of performance and questions romanticized stereotypes of femininity, proposing a poetic approach that intertwines care and violence, presence and memory.
