Founder and artistic director of Associação Cultural Videobrasil. With four decades of experience in the cultural world, she has served as the artistic director of the Videobrasil Biennial since its first edition, in 1983, a member of the Board of Directors of the International Biennial Association (IBA) and a member of the Research Committee of the French platform AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions. From 2007 to 2010, she served as director and chief curator of the Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia. In 2004, she was awarded the Sergio Motta Prize and, in 2017, she received the Montblanc Arts Patronage Award for her outstanding trajectory in supporting the development of diverse artistic and cultural expressions.


In recent years, she has curated national and international exhibitions such as Videobrasil. Needs no Translation (GES-2, Moscow, Russia, 2024), Reviravolta (MAES and Galeria Homero Massena, Vitória, Brazil, 2022), Chelpa Ferro (Sesc Avenida Paulista, São Paulo, 2009) and Pan-African Exhibition of Contemporary Art (MAM-BA, Salvador, 2005); co-curator of Dear Amazon: Brazil X Korea The Anthropocene 2019 (Ilmin Museum of Art, Seoul, South Korea), Dissidência – Minerva Cuevas (Galpão VB, São Paulo, 2018), Nada levarei quando morrer, aqueles que me devem cobrarei no inferno (Galpão VB, 2017), Amanhã vai ficar tudo bem – Akram Zaatari (Galpão VB, 2016), Isaac Julien: Geopoéticas, (Sesc Pompeia, São Paulo, 2012), Joseph Beuys: A revolução somos nós (Sesc Pompeia and MAM-BA, 2010) and Sophie Calle – Cuide de você (2009), among others. In 2020, she created the Videobrasil Online project, a platform for virtual video art exhibitions.


Throughout her career, she has been a guest curator at several international events, such as FUSO – Annual Video Art Exhibition (Portugal, 2011–2014 and 2017), Dak'Art – Biennial of Contemporary African Art (Senegal, 2016), Jakarta International Video Festival (Indonesia, 2013), Macau Video Art Festival (China, 2012), Sharjah Biennial (United Arab Emirates, 2011), Cerveira Biennial (Portugal, 2011) and Videozone – International Video Art Biennial (Israel, 2010).


She has taken part in the nomination committee for the Nam June Paik Prize 2024, the selection committee for the Mestras e Mestres das Artes Funarte Prize 2023, the jury for the Sharjah Biennial (2023), the advisory board for the EYE Art & Film Prize (2014–2023) and has been a member of the jury at cultural events and institutions the world over. She has participated in multiple lectures, symposiums and seminars at international cultural institutions, contributing to the dissemination of contemporary Brazilian art and the Global South.
