Known as the “father of video art,” Nam June Paik is honored with a retrospective at the 11th Videobrasil. The work of this South Korean trailblazer, including large-scale installations, set the tone for an edition focused on experimental and technological production, and in the dialogue with performance, sound and visual arts. The Southern Hemisphere competitive exhibition broadened its scope, and the relationship between video and art began to dominate production, initially associated with television and cinema. The bilingual catalog contains material about the works and artists participating in the edition, curatorial texts and special content about Nam June Paik, with essays by Roberto Amado (Brazil) and Marco Maria Gazzano (Italy).
