The United Nations has announced the establishment of UN Live: Museum for Humanity. The UN Live is being created collaboratively by prominent global thinkers from the art, museum, social sciences and digital development fields. The museum is intended to spread the values of the UN and increase their relevance in the daily lives of people around the world, especially the youth.

Associação Cultural Videobrasil founder and director Solange Farkas is the only Brazilian in the museum’s content committee, chaired by the Danish artist Olafur Eliasson, who had his first Latin American solo show in 2011 at Videobrasil’s invitation. In a promotional video available on the museum’s website, Farkas speaks for the dissemination of art from the geopolitical South, which has been the focus of Videobrasil’s work for over twenty years now. “Picturing the world upside down might be a good start, for instance,” she remarks.                                                          

The museum will comprise three separate platforms: UN Live Online; UN Live Network (for partnerships with organizations around the world); and, in the future, UN Building, a brick-and-mortar space in a city that is yet to be chosen — Copenhagen is the current favorite.

Berhanu Ashagrie Deribew (Ethiopia), a speaker in the 19^th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil’s Seminar, and Elvira Dyangani Ose (Spain), editor of Caderno Sesc_Videobrasil 10: Uses of Memory and curator of the 8^th Goteborg International Contemporary Art Biennial (which featured a video program dedicated to Videobrasil Collection works) are other UN Live content committee members.
