Videobrasil in Lisbon
The video Rafael França: Work as Testament, the second volume in the Videobrasil Authors Collection series, is featured in the 16th Exhibitions Program at Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, a Portuguese non-profit art and research organization. The exhibition started on February 15th and will end on April 26th.
Directed by Alex Gabassi and Marco Del Fiol, the documentary on Rio Grande do Sul state native Rafael França features footage of the artist, excerpts from artwork, and statements from fine artist Regina Silveira, his main supporter, the theoretician Arlindo Machado, and from Mario Ramiro and Hudnilson Jr., with whom he formed the trio 3NÓS3, in the 1970s. Born in 1957, França had a provocative career, which was cut short far too early by Aids, in 1991.
The program will be available to Lisbon audiences up until April, featuring work by Albano Afonso, Albuquerque Mendes, Francisco Queimadela and Mariana Caló, Maria Condado, Sara Bichão, and Artist of the City - Tim Etchells.
