After a stint in São José do Rio Preto, Videobrasil On Tour will arrive at SESC Santos on November 10th featuring a selection of 16 works made in Brazil, Lebanon, Israel, India, Bolivia, China and Argentina, which have won awards at the Southern Panoramas show of the 17th International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil. During the opening, on November the 9th, 8:00 PM, a public talk with curators Solange Farkas, Marcio Harum and Fernando Oliva will comment on the process of projects selection for the Southern Panoramas show.

According to curator Solange Farkas, "Santos is one of the largest cities in the state, and therefore has a regionally relevant cultural life. That is why we believe the city is an important stop for this travelling show, with potential to expand the contemporary art audience, which is our goal."

Out of the 16 works featured, 12 won awards from the Festival jury, which evaluated a set of 101 works selected from among over 1,000 submissions from all regions of the world’s geopolitical South. Four other pieces originated from the first Videobrasil Open Studio Prize, which commissioned artwork from young São Paulo-based artists, to be created in an open residency at artistic creation facility Casa Tomada.

The show is divided into four conceptual sections: Cartographies of affection features pieces dealing with possible representations for subjective aspects; Nature and culture presents artwork that expands on the landscape genre; Seeing machines brings optical devices which propose new visions; and finally, Political landscapes transposes dilemmas from the social sphere into the visual arts field. These sections include works by Akraam Zatari, Claudia Joskowicz, Adriano Costa, Liu Wei, Gabriel Mascaro, Dirceu Maués, Carla Zaccagnini Carolina Caliento, Guilherme Peters, Moran Shavit, Natasha Mendonca, Paulo Nimer Pjota, Regina Parra, Milton Machado & Cacá Vicalvi, Eder Santos, and Sebastián Diaz Morales.
