Collection in debate
At the Experiências de Museu [Museum Experiences] show, in exhibition since September 4, the Curitiba Museu da Gravura [Museum of Engraving] has prepared a programme of presentations that analyzes how different types of collection are managed. Invited to present Videobrasil Collection on Sep 26, Solange Farkas will review the three decades work to constitute the largest video collection dedicated to the geopolitical South art circuit. "The place that Videobrasil occupies today stems from attention to the trajectory of video art and this is reflected in the way we act, in constant transformation. We keep eyes open to absorb the changes in contemporary art to find ways of deepening its integration, inclusion and visibility", she says. Thus, besides the collection with works in video art and performance, the curator will comment Videobrasil's effort in building platforms of diffusion and reflection on contemporary art, such as Caderno SESC Videobrasil and Videobrasil Authors Collection.
The project Experiências de Museu presents curatorial cutouts from the museum’s large collection – such as posters of activist art, series of artists Jac Leirner and Louise Bourgeois, a Paul Bruscky piece, and a segment donated by the Fundação Vera Chaves Barcellos - to approach the museum experience under an open bias. Topics such as research, availability, mediation and management are addressed through the exhibition of highlights from their collection, public meetings and local interventions - there is, for example, a segment that exposes the staff charts of musems. The curators are Paulo Reis, Felipe Prando, Deborah Bruel, Goto Newton and Ana González. The show runs until 14.10. The open talk by Solange Farkas will take place on 26.9 at 19h. Fernando Severo, director of MIS-PR, also participates. Information by phone (41) 3321-3240.
