Gisela Motta and Leandro Lima nominated for June Paik Prize
Gisela Motta and Leandro Lima are nominees for the Nam June Paik Award, to be awarded in late October by German Kunststiftung NRW (Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia). The duo participated in the last edition of the International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil, in 2011, with work Plan Y. The prize is one of the most important in media art in the world and was created in 2002. Another Brazilian duo had already received the distinction in 2004 – Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain, who are responsible for the Festival’s design since the last five editions. Besides Gisela Motta and Leandro Lima, were nominated Burak Arikan (Turkey), Cevdet Erek (Turkey) Florian Hecker (Austria), Thomas Köner (Germany), Nomeda & Gediminas Urbonas (Lithuania) and Carlos Fadon Vicente (Brazil).
