Jan Villa featured at Tate Modern
Jan Villa, an Indian artist Natasha Mendonca’s work awarded at the 17th International Contemporary Art Festival SESC _Videobrasil, will be featured in the Tate Modern Starr Auditorium, in London. The work, which addresses the issue of emotional devastation having as point of departure the impact of a natural disaster in a neighborhood of India, is part of Experimenta India: London Indian Film Festival. Created in 2003, the festival is dedicated to Indian experimental cinema. The sessions take place on June 23 and 24 and present highlights of the Indian independent production of the last decade, with emphasis on works that challenge conventional forms of representation and explore new understandings on contemporary culture. Throughout its nine years of existence, the Festival, that is directed and curated by Shai Heredia, has become a reference in the dissemination of alternative audiovisual production from South Asia.
