An American astronaut and a Soviet cosmonaut: how do these stories interact? Brazilian Mayana Redin's video installation explores ideas of heroism, tragedy, fate and time by juxtaposing the parallel stories of two women who had different experiences of space travel: Christa McAuliffe and Valentina Tereshkova.
Collected from archival materials found in books and on the internet, the images of the two women are reproduced simultaneously. In this way, Redin invites us to reflect on how stories are constructed, trajectories are interpreted and images can be used to shape our understanding of the world.
