Kent Chan examines the context, politics and proliferation of different aesthetics of heat. In "Heat waves", a sequence of historical and contemporary images and videos reveals the contradictory nature of the narratives and representations associated with tropical regions.

While capturing the vibrancy, vitality and visual and chromatic complexity commonly invented about these regions, Kent Chan's works make us think about how global warming and its effects have substantially altered not only the landscape and life, but also how it could lead to a future in which the tropical climate dominates the world.
