The vietnamese artist Quy Minh Truong talks about his award-winning work Vuon Bau Xanh Tuoi, exhibited in the 20th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil which received one of the three Sesc Art Collection Acquisition Awards at the 20th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil. In Vuon Bau Xanh Tuoi, Tran Xuan Ve, an old farmer, recalls the carnage he witnessed as a young soldier in the Cambodian-Vietnamese War: a common one-kilometer-long ditch with indistinct bodies being devoured by swamp vermin. The artist inquires “we may ask ourselves: is there any memory inside the mountains?”.
