The mexican artist Andrés Padilla Domene talks about his work Ciudad Maya which received the Honorable Mention at the 20th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil. The video features young explorers manipulating strange technological devices to investigate the ruins of an archaeological site in the Mexican city of Mérida. The site turns out to be a modern replica of ancient Mayan buildings. Andrés states that “they are still trying to define who they are between their origin, their history, and a contemporary world, the post-colonial situation of the Maya culture.”
