Made on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the "Discovery" of Brazil, the work is based on the idea of the impossibility of a documentary about the event. Based on the content of the famous letter written by Pero Vaz de Caminha to the King of Portugal, it is the video version of an implausible record that oscillates between documentary and fiction. The historical document from school textbooks offered new interests to the artist, such as the rich descriptions with elements of gallantry. We see only shabby, blank scenes, made through the telecine of negative tips, as if scratched and worn after five hundred years of existence and overuse. Only the sounds of the wind and the sea, as well as the captions were supposedly preserved, since the dialogue between discoverers and natives did not happen. Thus, viewers are invited to fill in the sound and image gaps with their own versions.
