Statement Joel Pizzini, 2003
This film, I think we still haven´t distanced ourselves enough, to fully understand its nature, because it came up in a period when Lucia Rocha was hospitalized in São Paulo at the Beneficência Portuguesa Hospital. In fact, I accompanied this period, I went there with her. But I had never thought of making a film about her because she’s a friend, and with friends we have relationships that don’t embrace the aspect of celebrity... there are more secret, intimate codes, so we never want to expose friends. But during this period at the hospital, she had this sudden thought of perhaps giving a testimonial, maybe due to her fear in that extreme situation that she might not overcome. So she asked someone to call me, and it was in fact Ava Rocha who called me.
