Statement 2019
The relationships between Jeguatá and our audiovisual production greatly surprised us during the process, because the goal was to understand more about Jeguatá and the conversations with some of the leaders, as well as other important people like the elders there, who in the past were also village leaders in some way and today are our advisers. That was essential.
The impression I had along this route is that we are somehow leaving behind people who are so important and starting to move elsewhere, perhaps alone, without them. But I think that the elders’ guidance is important for all of us. We, young people, are learning new things that older people don’t have access to, but at the same time it’s very important to learn from them, since there are many things to be discussed regarding the relationship between traditional and contemporary knowledge.
During the listening part of this work, in addition to recent events, we were told many stories, so we focused on listening carefully to them to better understand the narrative we would like to establish.
