He has been working with the audiovisual universe since 1974, making animations, documentaries and fictions. He studied at the Parque Laje’s School of Visual Arts in Rio de Janeiro and moved to Recife in 1979. Among the films he directed, stands out Pedras de Fogo (1981), A sangue frio (1990) and O Mundo é uma cabeça (2005), with Bidu Queiroz as his partner. Claudio competed in many festivals, such as Cine PE Festival do Audiovisual, the Festival Internacional de Curtas de São Paulo and the Festival del Cine Latinoamericano de Havana. He also conquered awards as the best short film at the Festival de Cinema de Belém in 2005, best documentary short film of the Festival Internacional de Curtas do Rio de Janeiro, in 2005, and the Grand Prize U-Matic at the 3rd Videobrasil, São Paulo, in 1985. Besides being a film director and screenwriter, he directs TV programs, commercials and political campaigns. Barroso is the co-founder of the TV Viva, one of the first alternative Brazilian television channels, which since 1984 produces and broadcasts programs for low-income neighborhoods of Recife. He directed and coordinated this TV station during eight years, with which he received several national and international prizes.
