Around the world: processes and directions of the internationalization of art

Driven by globalization, the notion of internationalization picked up steam in Brazil in the 1990s. Starting with the fall of the Berlin Wall, the contemporary art scenario embraced other narratives. In Videobrasil, internationalization emerged amidst a desire to understand art production from the geopolitical South. The panel will discuss new developments brought about by internationalization, and how its vectors interfered with art narratives.

About the participants:
Elvira Dyangani Ose (Cordoba, Spain, 1974) Curator specialized in African productions; international art curator for Tate Modern and art director for the Lubumbashi Biennial (2012/2013).
Jorge La Ferla (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1955) Researcher and curator; he is a professor at Universidad del Cine and head of department at Universidad de Buenos Aires. He has published books on audiovisual art in Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.
Michael Mazière (Grenoble, France, 1957) Artist and film and video curator. Creator of the galleries Ambika P3 and London Gallery West; former editor of the Undercut magazine.
Yolanda Wood (Santiago de Cuba, 1950) Curator and art history professor at the School of Arts and Languages of the University of Havana. She is the director of the Center of Studies on the Caribbean, established in 1979 by Casa de las Americas, in the Cuban capital.
