Dobra 24.9.2003

The image of the Dobra, a superposition that transforms the fabric, is taken as a point of departure for the reunion of artists in a hybrid and collective project conceived beyond the notions of discipline and authorship. The Dobra project inserts in a performance line that started with the presentation of Entre: Fêmur vs. Objeto Amarelo, in the 13th Videobrasil International Electronic Art Festival in 2001. Entre came of the will of establishing collaboration between music and design based on the free transit between both fields and on the potential integration of works. At the same time process and product, Entre configured as a live composition of sound and visual elements, entwined in a unique piece created in the intersection of works of every artist. In the 14th edition of the Festival, the collaboration among the artists of Dobra is presented in a performance which synthesizes the processes of superposition of languages, exchange of samples and fusion of procedures in interfaces that generate hybrid compositions of images and sound. Acting in a gray zone, where the delimitations between disciplines and identities get lost in favour of the creation of a unique work, the artists of Dobra interweave their works and execute new doings. Composing with samples, they appropriate elements created by the group and organize them in a collective composition. Where does one start and the other end? In Dobra, the doubt is the answer. Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain work in collaboration since 1996, developing artistic and graphic design projects. Integrate the Associação Cultural Videobrasil Council and the Pavillon, a group of artistic production and research based at the Palais de Tokyo. In the course of 2003, lived in the Cité Internationale des Arts, in Paris. Their works have already been presented at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris; Printemps de Septembre, Toulouse; Kunstwerein Karlsruhe, Germany; Ginza Graphic Gallery, Tokyo; Galeria Vermelho, São Paulo; MAM, São Paulo; 13th Videobrasil International Electronic Art Festival, São Paulo; Festival Eletronika, Belo Horizonte; and Itaú Cultural, Belo Horizonte.
